Mentoring Programs: Summer 2016

Whether you are on-campus or off-campus this summer, our hybrid programs are designed to provide you with guidance and structure as you learn key grantsmanship skills that you will use throughout your research career. Our goal is to help you develop a competitive application that you can submit for review during the 2016-2017 application season.

In 2016 we are offering four programs for early career and dissertation level graduate students:

Doctoral Funding Mentoring Program for 1st Year Students

Program Dates: June 1 - September 15, 2016

Participants: Entering first year doctoral students

The registration deadline has passed.

Exclusively for Graduate School New Brunswick and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences doctoral students who are entering the first year of their graduate program in fall 2016. This three unit program is designed to provide entering doctoral students with an introduction to granstmanship as a graduate student, including the development of a 5 year external funding plan and a fellowship or grant application to be submitted during the 2016-2017 application season.

Doctoral Funding Mentoring Program for 2nd Year Students

Program Dates: June 1 - September 15, 2016

Participants: Rising second year doctoral students who have not participated in a GradFund Mentoring Program

The registration deadline has passed.

Exclusively for Graduate School New Brunswick and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences doctoral students who are entering their second year of their graduate program in fall 2016 and who have not yet participated in a GradFund Summer Mentoring Program. This three unit program is designed to provide rising second year doctoral students with an introduction to granstmanship as a graduate student, including the development of a 5 year external funding plan and a fellowship or grant application to be submitted during the 2016-2017 application season.

Graduate Fellowship Mentoring Program for 2nd Year Doctoral Students

Program Dates: June 1 - August 19, 2016

Participants: Rising second year doctoral students who have participated in a GradFund Mentoring Program and are eligible to apply for the NSF GRF or Ford Predoctoral Felllowship

The registration deadline has passed.

Exclusively for Graduate School New Brunswick and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences doctoral students who are entering their second year of their graduate program in fall 2016 and who have participated in a GradFund Summer Mentoring Program. The focus of the program will be to develop an NSF GRF or Ford Predoctoral Fellowship application for submission in during the 2016 application season.

Dissertation Funding Mentoring Program

Program Dates: May 25 - August 25, 2016

Participants: Dissertating students who will be in entering year 3 or beyond in their graduate program. Participation is by application only, which will be selective.

The deadline to apply has passed.

Exclusively for Graduate School New Brunswick and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences doctoral students who plan to apply for dissertation grants and fellowships during the 2016-2017 application season. The program agenda includes workshops, on-line conferences and individual appointments designed to assist you with the development of a competitive dissertation-level funding application. Participation is by application only, which will be selective.

As a part of your application, you will need to identify a dissertation-level fellowship or grant that you would like to work on during the mentoring program. Before you start your application, research and identify the grant or fellowship you would like to work on by visiting the GradFund Database.
